Description
Please separate configurations that change outputs from those that merely configure how the processing is organised. Typically in a campaign, the former should be constant, and the latter can be changed.

This would be lovely to have done better originally, but it's a Herculean task to retrofit it now, and I don't think it's ever happening fully as described here. We'll chip away at it here and there in the course of making pipelines run smoothly in the Gen3 batch system (on other tickets). I'm calling this ticket a Won't Fix.
Fritz Mueller — this is really a feature request for a rework of the config system, which falls in the DAX WBS. Pinging you so you're aware of it. We should discuss how we want to address this.
