LDM-151 (2017-07-19) has a section
6.3.3 Linear feature detection and removal
which makes statements about using Hough transforms to find linear features such as satellite trails. The wording is reasonably vague, but concludes
The baseline for the science pipelines will be to use a modified Hough transform to identify and mask linear features in visit images.
We need to acknowledge that, while everyone thinks "Hough" when they first encounter the problem (e.g. that was what we thought on SDSS) there is a long and sad history of this not being as simple as you might hope; the failure of PanSTARRS' "Magic" is a case in point.
We need to survey the literature (e.g. PanSTARRS; DES (Alex Drlica-Wagner)) when we start working on this.
