      Description

In working on DM-19189, I have been looking at the S/N distributions of the various fluxes  (raw instrumental and calibrated) from single frame processing (where here S/N = flux/fluxErr from the catalog).  The S/N distributions look as expected for the raw instrumental fluxes, the calibrated values based on application of the photoCalib of jointcal outputs, and the meas_mosaic solution using the "old style" calibration (i.e. using meas_mosaic's own applyMosaicResultsExposure() function – which uses the persisted fcr dataset to apply the calibration).  However, the S/N distribution when applying the photoCalib from meas_mosaic is not at all as expected (plots to be attached). Look further into this pathology and what might be causing it.

Could it then be that the calibration errors are getting double-counted somehow in the meas_mosaic case?

I doubt it; I suspect the meas_mosaic errors are just being packaged up into the PhotoCalib incorrectly - that was always the most likely problem, and hearing that we are trying to propagate those errors in this context makes it even more likely in my mind.  I'll try to look into that code later this week.

Jim Bosch, if I create a follow-up ticket for this along the lines of "Decide how to handle erroneous error propagation noted in DM-19828", are you ok with me closing this one?

Yes, that's fine (and sorry for the delay).  Since this is blocked on me as it is, it probably makes sense for the blocked thing to be a ticket actually assigned to me.

Thanks Jim!  Follow-up ticket is DM-20053.  Would you mind giving this a formal "reviewed" green light?
