example_project was useful as a proof-of-concept for the templatekit-based architecture of lsst/templates, but now it serves no real purpose. (If a tutorial project is needed to teach making templates, it shouldn't be part of the production template repository.) Let's simply delete the example_project so that we don't carry technical debt forward.
