Jira workflow buttons behavior changes

      Description

After the most recent Jira upgrade, many of the the workflow buttons in Jira stopped showing a comment window when clicked. For example, I had previously used the comment field of "Done" to thank the reviewer and close out any final post-review thoughts.

Was the change in behaviour part of the Jira upgrade, or a subsequent intentional change in workflow?

Could we please get back the comment pop-up window associated with the workflow buttons? Would it also be possible to ensure that the buttons for each project (e.g. DM, IT, SIM) have the same behaviour?

From a formal/EV perspective, I don't think we should ever do this. After work has been expended on a ticket, it ultimately ought to end up as done or that work has been “wasted”. It might be appropriate to recast the ticket as “investigated X, and decided it was a bad idea”, but something has been done so we should record that.

FWIW, this is close enough what I wanted to capture on DM-19851 just now, though "this work stalled out when we encountered unexpected problems, and now it's no longer useful" would be more accurate.

Are you proposing changing the ticket description, and then marking it Done, for that case?

I think the right answer from an EV point of view is to change the ticket description and mark it as done.

In practice, I'm conflicted about whether that's useful. On reflection, I'd be happy enough for tickets in that state to just become invalid, and we'll eat the small error on the EV numbers.
