Description
Per RFC-645, obs_sdss and lsst_dm_stack_demo should be removed from the default stack build. obs_sdss appears in both lsst_apps and lsst_obs. lsst_dm_stack_demo is a little less clear and needs some investigation to figure out where to remove it.
This should be done after DM-22577, which will ensure that there's some basic verification of functionality in a stack installation.

I'm at this point mostly agnostic as to whether DM-22577 results in a new package or a revamping of the existing one. I haven't put much thought into it yet.

My preference would be to keep the stack demo package and modify it. The name is already generic and the updates are consistent with the name. Doesn't seem worth it to me to create a new package.

When I spoke to John Swinbank I thought the agreement was to retain stack demo but change the instrument and possibly remove the final catalog check.
Oh, you are proposing a brand new package in
DM-22577.
