Description
Gregory Dubois-Felsmann points out DMS-REQ-0332:
The database tables shall contain views presented to the users that will be appropriately denormalized for ease of use.
and asks how we should interpret this. The requirement was added to correspond to the DPDD text in section 3.3, which says that
Secondly, the tables to be presented are largely normalized ... In the as-built database, the views presented to the users will be appropriately denormalized for ease of use.
In order to decide how to support this requirement, we should determine an appropriate set of user-facing denormalizations. Some of these may be relatively cheap in storage costs and some may be prohibitively expensive to store, necessitating on-the-fly views to be computed. Such views require support in both the TAP service and qserv, so identifying those needs soon is important for guiding development.
We need to understand what it will mean to verify this requirement for ORR.
