Update LVV-T125 to include fake galaxies and measurement accuracy requirements

      Description

      During acceptance testing (DM-26364), we made a recommendation (in DMTR-261) that Test Case LVV-T125 should be updated to require insertion of artificial stars and galaxies, and perhaps to place some requirements on the level of accuracy with which their properties can be recovered. Update LVV-T125 accordingly, and include it in a future acceptance test campaign.

          I updated the "Objective" of LVV-T125 to read as follows:

          "Verify that the DMS can inject simulated data into data products for testing.

          This should be verified for simulated stars and fake galaxies. Furthermore, verification should include the following:

          • Demonstration that fluxes of simulated stars and galaxies are recovered to within ~10% of their true values,
          • Demonstration that artificial sources are recovered to the completeness levels that are required,
          • Demonstration that star/galaxy identification is correct for a reasonable fraction of simulated sources."

          The intention of these additional statements is to require minimal verification that the simulated sources are being recovered, but not to verify in detail that the measured properties are optimal – i.e., to demonstrate that the machinery exists to recover the simulated sources, so that detailed characterization based on those fake sources can be carried out elsewhere.
