      Description

The Canon camera has been reconfigured which could now make it more receptive to libgphoto2 and python-gphoto. This ticket is to test the camera with libgphoto2 and python-gphoto.

Brian Stalder replaced the Raspberry Pi 3 with a Raspberry Pi 4 and flashed the SD card with the EAS disk image and made some configuration changes to the Canon camera, most notable switching it from auto focus to manual focus. IT have assigned a fixed DHCP address and a DNS name to the new RPi (see the linked issue).

I have installed libgphoto2, gphoto2 and python-gphoto2 on the RPi by compiling them from source. The reason for that is that the versions of gphoto2 and libgphoto2 that come with CentOS 7 are too old and don't support the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV very well.

Now commanding the camera both from gphoto2 and python-gphoto2 works without an error. I have updated the All Sky Camera page on Confluence with all installation instructions and with commands and a Python script to test the camera. See
