Description
In the past there have been some questions about the appropriate behavior of Firefly plots (as rendered by Plotly) of 2D histograms, when changing axes to logarithmic.
This ticket (at a low priority that would only be possible to take up with real development support again) asks for a design effort to understand what behavior might be useful to science users. This might involve asking whether it should be possible to request binning of histograms in bins of constant ratio, rather than constant width, and if so whether the display should be in density units at that point, instead of counts.
This affects both 1D and 2D histograms. The original issue emphasized 2D histograms because they are occasionally forced on users when they request a scatterplot over too large a dataset.
