      Description

Technote should include an introduction that covers a few different conceptions of what "campaign management" is, at least from the middleware perspective, including both DMTN-181 and the "data curation" or "campaign definition" aspect that it rules as out of scope (but is nevertheless important and especially tricky for commissioning).

This will touch on and connect a few middleware feature requests already raised elsewhere:

      • more flexible data ID keys (DM-33751)
      • non-visit exposure or visit groups (DM-33702)
      • external data ID sets (DM-33621)
      • metric storage in data repositories (DM-31599 / DMTN-203)

Technote draft is ready, but I have no idea who I should really ask to review it - though a I lot of people should probably read at least some of it. I'll ask around on #dm-arch for volunteers on Monday.

Robert Lupton and Richard Dubois, since you already have a DMLT action to read this, I'm making you official reviewers. I don't think this needs a super in-depth read, and I've already added a qualifier to that the recommendations are my own, not DM's or even middleware's - so if you disagree, it's worth discussing, but not something that I think needs to be resolved in the text.

Jim Bosch - I've given it a read (more than one), and looks good to me. I'm wondering about using inclusion vs exclusion lists for Campaign Management intent tracking, but I assume this will get sorted out as Eric Charles proceeds with his CM concept, which I believe he has run past you.

Yup, I've talked to Eric, and while for the most part we agreed it would probably be better to not call a lot of this content campaign management anyway, exclusion/inclusion lists is at least on the boundary of what's in scope there (and important to somebody, if not necessarily Eric) and the question of which is indeed something I think best dealt with later.

This is being referenced but appears to have not converged and ultimately been merged. Is there a reason for this?

Just waiting for Robert Lupton to have time to read again and sign off, I think.

I'm going to go ahead and merge this as-is, because it's a useful thing for me to refer others when discussion current problems and future features, and it's awkward pointing them at a branch. And I gather the only hold up is a concern about whether there is missing scope, and that's basically always a concern: we can open new tickets for additions if that happens.
