      Description

Work on LSE-77 per se appears not to have kept up with the status of the substance of the interface requirements, as represented in, for instance, LSE-239. The action here is to see what change request actions may be appropriate for LSE-77 at this point.

LSE-77 was last baselined in October 2013 (Docushare v6), and there is an unapproved later version of it (Docushare v7) from July 2014.

There appears to be no outstanding LCR against LSE-77 to get that later version adopted.

There was a recent change request (LCR-384, Base Facility Data Center Requirements Under Change Control) whose purpose was to place a new document, LSE-239, Base Facility Data Center Design Requirements, under change control. This document amounts to the rollup by T&S of all the requirements from the LSST subsystems for data center space at the Base Facility.

In the process of developing that LCR, it was discussed that it should be synced with an update to LSE-77. At this point, LCR-384 has passed CCB review and is in "Approval Pending" state. It would be timely to reassess the status of LSE-77 - whether it is still useful at all, whether it should be updated with the final DM input that went into LSE-239, etc. - and what work may still remain to be on it to bring the interface to the completion of Phase 3.

The document status of LSE-77 is unchanged from my comment above.

LCR-384 was moved to Fully Implemented status on 2015-10-21. An attempt to resolve the relationship with LSE-77 was inconclusive.

Meanwhile the Base Facility design has been moving forward. A Preliminary Design Review was held on 2015-12-11, with documents attached to this page. Design meetings continue, with meeting notes available as child pages of https://confluence.lsstcorp.org/display/LTS/Base+Facility+Design+Meetings on Confluence.

See also the document LTS-190, Base Facility Requirements.

I am pinging Brian Selvy for an updated opinion on what to do about LSE-77. My own perspective is that it may be worth marking it as retired at this point; it seems to have become irrelevant.

Per DM-3412, “ICD progress is now effectively being managed under the Systems Engineering verification process”, so I'm closing this.
