German Schumacher added a comment - 31/Jul/22 10:44 PM Continue progress in the development of dome control system software from EIE contractor, and members of Rubin Observatory developers. This progress is well described in the weekly meetings whose notes could be found at https://confluence.lsstcorp.org/display/LTS/Dome+Software+Meetings  . The most important accomplishments are: Continue the dome WIFI tests, concerning communications between the fixed and rotating sections of the dome, performed by EIE contractor. The results, showing unreliable communications,  confirmed previous analysis pointing to a poor signal strength utilized in the communications. A new test setup, based on a shorter segment of leaky cable was agreed, that should help in the understanding of the poor WIFI signal. Unfortunatelly, a heavy snow storm at the summit inhibited further progress in this topic. Furthermore, no more advance is expected in the next period due to vacation in Italy, the EIE contractor base. The plan of the software development by EIE contractor, was the subject of several discussions. In particular the timing of the delivery of the Aperture Shutter control was updated, to agree closely with the expected useage in the coming pointing tests in the Sepetember timeframe. As a result several updates of the Gantt chart were made, to include also the expected time associated with tests and fixes in the software. Due to the snow storm and vacation period, no further progress from EIE contractor in software development is expected in the next period.  The main activity will be the development of documentation to be utilized in the verification of control software, to be complaisant with the Rubin project requirements of dome operation and functioning.
