In the HSC DR4 processing, it came up that knowing the mean epoch of each of the coadds would be useful for comparing to Gaia. This is particularly significant for HSC survey data where a given region was observed over a relatively limited period of time, but different regions may have been observed several years apart. However, it would also be interesting to know in general.
