The goal here is to use 1D profile templates from DECam as an exercise to approach how to implement tree rings correction in a DECam flat given such template as input. We don't use it to check how good the correction is or to define metrics.

The notebook is /sdf/home/f/ferte/u/scripts_imgprocessing/DECam_Tree_Rings_correction.ipynb. This is my starting point for DM-37723.

I've added the referenced notebook here, to ensure it's available in the future.

One question from looking through it:  There are blank regions in the "after 2D removal" figure (cell 51).  Is there insufficient data at those radii to make a model for these regions, or is this something else I'm not thinking of?

            Thanks for adding the notebook.

The template is given from a minimum to a maximum radius, the inner and outer blank regions correspond to outside these radius (I set the template to 0 there). It is not clear to me what we are supposed to do in these regions. Maybe Andrés Alejandro Plazas Malagón would know what was done in DECam about it.

Blank points are places where the template is 0 as well - I masked places where the template is 0 (so both the regions outside the template and inside where template is 0), I probably won't do it this way in practice.
