            3.38 beta changed how long keywords were handled via HIERARCH. Waiting on another beta to restore the old functionality, while opening up discussion on community about how best to handle this.

            Would Russell Owen or Tim Jenness please review the test improvements in this pull request? These aren't directly related to this ticket, but I made them while investigating the above trouble and didn't want them to be lost.

            This looks fine to me. I listed some picky requests on the pull request (in the files changed tab). I'm glad you found that bug in the deep vs. shallow copy test.
