      Description

It would be convenient for end users to have the git-lfs client available as a conda package. There does not appear to be an existing recipe.

+1. This seems like the most useful way to do it.

Here is my plan. First, I'll add it to Mario Juric's conda-lsst repository as a recipe. Next, I'll attempt to find a way to package it and add it to anaconda.org. There are a couple different ways to do this. If anyone has an recommendations on best practice, please comment.

Maybe I can get added to the lsst organization on anaconda.org. My username is jmatt.

According to Joshua Hoblitt it sounds like we are using our own channel. Which is fine. But I should note that I found the anaconda.org channel first when I was investigating.

Ugh, good point, I need to wipe that out... The problem is anaconda.org doesn't really let you do that easily, grrr...

Btw., while it's OK to start developing the recipe in conda-lsst, I think the right place to have it merged is https://github.com/conda/conda-recipes (will be more broadly useful to others, not just us).

I've opened a PR upstream on conda-recipes and on conda-lsst (https://github.com/mjuric/conda-lsst/pull/49). I've tested this on EL5 but not OSX (because I don't have access to an OSX build machine).

The git-lfs recipe was accepted into conda-recipes https://github.com/conda/conda-recipes/pull/607 so I'm going to make this work as complete.
