      Description

      Unlike pex.logging, log backed by log4cxx is configurable at runtime using a configuration file. For running CmdLineTasks, DM-6999 sets some defaults inside pipe_base and provides an -- longlog option to output in a more verbose format, including data, time, and data IDs. I think it would be useful to let users supply their own log4cxx configuration file easily through the command line task interface, giving users more control over their logs.

            The existing way to set a log4cxx configuration file is through LSST_LOG_CONFIG environment variable.

            Note that the current --longlog option hard-codes the level to INFO too

            When I created this ticket, my thought was that users configure log through a configuration file. Based on recent discussions on RFC-203, I'm not sure that is actually wanted; so I'm marking this ticket as Won't Fix. Please reopen if you disagree.
