The LSST effective passband will take into account the spatial and temporal evolution
of atmospheric transmission by using an auxiliary telescope to acquire real time
spectrum of stable stars close to the line of sight of the main survey.
My job is to develop the software to process the data from the auxiliary telescope and to produce the real time monitoring of the atmospheric component of the LSST effective passband.
The LSST auxiliary telescope is not built yet, and the overall method was not implemented by previous surveys. To test the performance of this new approach, several runs are planned at the CTIO .9-m telescope. Two runs already took place, and 3 more are planned in the next 3 months.
My primary objective is to develop the algorithms and build the reduction pipeline of these observations to extract informations about the spatial and temporal variation of the atmospheric transmission near the futur LSST site.
