      Description

It has been requested that we update the disparate glossaries in DM to a single version.

      The following glossaries exist:

I am going to investigate the Magic Draw glossary support and see what the EA situation is.

What is the status of this? Following many questions related to terminology at the May 2018 commissioning bootcamp, the Željko asked for a DM glossary. I'd like to assign a dm-sst resource to drive this forward

We had a discussion about it at the DM-SST meeting today.  We reassembled (for the Nth time!) the list of all extant glossaries, and I was tasked with having a conversation with Jonathan Sick about it, because of a connection to documentation needs of the LSP.

I'll report back on that soon.

Something related to glossaries, is a word list that you might find in a content style guide (DM-11462). The word list helps create a controlled vocabulary so that content authors (folks writing user documentation) know which word to use when writing documentation. I'm wondering if the glossary system we consolidate towards could also have a usage notes field so that I can generate our content style guide's word usage list from our glossary as well?

I have not done anything on this. MagicDraw does have a glossary database so that words in requirements are automatically mapped to the glossary entry. Dumping the glossary to a document or other database periodically does seem plausible.

Jonathan Sick see the new file glossarydefs.csv - generateAcronyms.py  uses only the first 3 columns .. we could easily add usage note help in there as well

Tim Jenness - I think we could close this - apart form the EA part - but that could perhpas be another ticket now.

I'm fine with you closing it. We can work out the magicdraw plan later when things have settled down.
