      Description

I have created LSST-style and astrometry.net-style catalogs from the Pan-STARRS1 3pi survey. I propose these be included in the appropriate places in /datasets.

      /datasets/refcats/htm/ps1_pv3_3pi_20170110
      /datasets/refcats/astrometry_net_data/ps1_pv3_3pi_20170110-and

What name do you suggest? e.g. ps1_v1 or with a better tag then it will be at /datasets/refcats/astrometry_net_data/ps1_v1 and /datasets/refcats/htm/ps1_v1?

Great! Hsin-Fang Chiang will help determine the format and location and approve.

            The names are:

            • ps1_pv3_3pi_20170110: the main (LSST-style) catalog, to be copied into /datasets/refcats/htm/
            • ps1_pv3_3pi_20170110-and: the astrometry.net-style catalog, to be copied into /datasets/refcats/astrometry_net_data/

I think it's important to be complete in the naming:

            • "ps1" is the source
            • "pv3" is the processing version (there are "pv1" and "pv2" catalogs at Princeton)
            • "3pi" is the survey that produced the catalog
            • "20170110" is the date (starting) on which the catalog was assembled

All of these components are important to communicate what's in the catalog and distinguish it from others.

There has been a consensus on location. Two directories created and writable by hchiang2:

            htm/ps1_pv3_3pi_20170110/
            astrometry_net_data/ps1_pv3_3pi_20170110-and/
