      Description

The Butler and Supertask requirements, LDM-556, are now ready for review and acceptance into the baseline.

The document can be found at https://ldm-556.lsst.io/v/RFC-473/index.html

The document submitted here includes some requirements that we feel should be added to the LSST Data Facility requirements document but that document does not yet exist (at least not in MagicDraw). I am open to accepting them as part of this RFC or removing them for later consideration.

I realize these have mostly been reviewed separately, but could Michelle Butler have a quick look since she wasn't around for those earlier reviews?

Comments: This is a very large description for "middle ware".   It it all for the butler?  or are their other packages or other places this software is going to be.    I wasn't sure.

Seems like MANY priorities at 1a.

Didn't see any requirements for QuantumGraph.  Should they be in here?

Michelle Butler this document is generically for middleware (so could include logging functionality and similar) but for now we are specifically concerned with SuperTask and Butler (we have not written Logging or Task requirements). The 1a priorities are using the priority scheme defined in LSE-61 which means we need them for DM acceptance. They are requirements that we need to have before we can do any real work with LSST. It was felt to be confusing to have a different priority scheme in sub requirements documents. QuantumGraph should be covered by one of the supertask requirements, maybe Andy Salnikov can comment.

There are a couple of data backbone requirements at the end (section 3.1) that I would like your opinion on. If you accept them we should move them to a different part of the model where we are going to put DBB requirements.

Michelle Butler, I guess sections 2.1.2.4 and 2.1.2.5 cover QuantumGraph requirements though they call it DAG. I think it's reasonable at requirements level, Quantum and QuantumGraph are more of a design level entities. Do you feel there may be something extra needed there?

Tim Jenness I'm ok with the 3.1 section for DBB.   Thanks for double checking.

Andy Salnikov Okay.  I agree with you.   Design level is fine.

Wil O'Mullane I think that we have reached consensus on this RFC and that people are happy for the requirements for SuperTask and Butler to be baselined. Can you please make a decision?
