Currently h5py and hdf5 are in the list of required python packages in the stack, together with pandas. This would make for a complete pandas to hdf5 solution, of potential use to LSP, but for the fact that pandas need the 'tables' package in order to write in hdf5 format. I therefore propose that 'tables' be added to the default Science Pipelines Conda environment.
