We seek comments on the following draft LCR, which was developed in
The purpose of this LCR is to revise LSE-72 to clarify that the survey name (e.g., WFD, DDF-1) should be included in the definition of nextVisit, in order ensure that the correct mechanisms will be in place to meet requirements OSS-REQ-0384 and DMS-REQ-0320, which specify that alternative processing pipelines can be triggered for Special Programs data in near real-time. A short, associated, clarifying revision to LSE-61 is also proposed.
Update the specification so that the second sentence, which describes the visit qualities reported to DM, include survey name: "The notice shall include the sky coordinates ... filter selection, expected air mass, and survey name (e.g., WFD, DDF-1)."
Add a sentence to the discussion: "The inclusion of survey name in the visit qualities reported in an advance notice will enable alternative, near real-time processing pipelines to be triggered for Special Programs, as required by OSS-REQ-0384 and DMS-REQ-0320."
Update the specification so that the first sentence says: "It shall be possible for special programs to trigger their own data processing recipes, during the night instead of the nightly Alert Processing (but the recipes may still issue Alerts), or on alternative timescales."
Add this as a final sentence of the discussion: "Decisions about which processing pipelines are applied to which Special Programs will be made by the Operations team, after consideration of the scientific goals, computational resources, and data rights policy."
