Updates to DMSR facilities-related requirements

    Description

This RFC proposes the following updates to DMSR requirements:

      Current requirement text:

DMS-REQ-0176 (Priority: 1a): The Base Facility shall provide sufficient computing, storage, and network infrastructure to support buffering and forwarding of all raw and crosstalk-corrected image data to the Archive Facility, a complete copy of the Archive Facility data holdings, and compute facilities to support Commissioning activities.

      Proposed requirement text:

DMS-REQ-0176 (Priority: 1a): The Summit Facility shall provide sufficient computing, storage, and network infrastructure to support buffering and forwarding of all raw and crosstalk-corrected image data to the Archive Facility, and compute facilities to support Commissioning activities.

      Discussion:

This change reflects the design choices that have been made to place these capabilities at the Summit rather than the Base. In addition, we propose to remove the reference to "a complete copy of the Archive Facility data holdings" housed at the Base Facility, as this is not in the current plans.

      Current requirement text:

DMS-REQ-0185 (Priority: 1a): The Archive Center shall provide computing, storage, and network infrastructure to support, simultaneously: nightly processing including image processing, detection, association, and Solar System processing, and the generation of all time-critical data products, i.e. alerts; the data release production, including Level-2 data product creation, permanent storage for all data products (with provenance), including federated Level-3 products; and serve data for replication to data centers and end user sites.

      Proposed requirement text:

DMS-REQ-0185 (Priority: 1a): The Archive Center shall provide computing, storage, and network infrastructure to support, simultaneously: nightly processing including image processing, detection, association, and Solar System processing, and the generation of all time-critical data products, i.e. alerts; the data release production, including Level-2 data product creation, and permanent storage for all data products (with provenance).

plus new requirement (separated from the previous DMS-REQ-0185):

DMS-REQ-XXXX (Priority: 1b): The Archive Center shall provide computing, storage, and network infrastructure to support federated Level-3 products, and serve data for replication to data centers and end user sites.

      Discussion:

Because user-generated data products and replication of data releases to DACs will not be needed immediately (i.e., not needed to start commissioning), we propose separating those aspects into a Priority 1b requirement.

Sorry that I forgot to mention that we should remove all mentions of "crosstalk-corrected"; we're no longer doing that in the Camera DAQ.

Th last requirment for level3 could be 2 it is not 1b its not required for start of operations
            otherwise this is ok thanks

Thanks for the reminder K.-T. – I'll make sure to remove the "crosstalk-corrected" bits.

Agreed, Wil – I'll make that priority 2 instead of 1b.
